Industrialization of Hybrid and Additive Manufacturing – Implementation to Finnish industry (HYBRAM)
The aim of HYBRAM is to increase the competitiveness of Finnish manufacturing industry by removing the barriers hindering the industrial implementation of additive and hybrid manufacturing. Both additive and hybrid manufacturing open new possibilities and perspectives to manufacturing but until now they have been stand-alone technologies without real industrial implementation on shop floor. In HYBRAM this will be changed. The partners of HYBRAM are six companies with their own industrial projects, and two research institutes, VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland Ltd and Tampere University of Technology (TUT) with their own public research projects.
The main aims of the industrial projects are: 1) System-level solutions of additive and hybrid manufacturing in industrial production; 2) Flexible, rapid, efficient and more competitive production by applying additive and hybrid manufacturing and 3) More competitive new products by applying additive and hybrid manufacturing.
The research projects of VTT and TUT are focusing on specifying the features of additive and hybrid manufacturing, which are barriers in implementation and industrialisation of these technologies. The aim is a model, which describes the challenges and gives solutions in different cases at factory level. Business models will be analysed using the participating industrial companies as examples. The public research projects also support the industrial projects keeping the Finnish industrial needs in mind. This kind total view of implementation of additive and hybrid technologies in industry has not been realized earlier. Therefore HYBRAM will give the Finnish manufacturing industry a strong competitive edge in the markets.
